You’ll need to bring with you a drivers licence as a form of identification. We will also require payment in full and a 30% bond over and above the calculated total before the equipment leaves Kapiti Hire.
How long is a day?
24 hours
How long is a half day hire?
A half day hire is 4 hours from the time you have picked the equipment.
We also charge a half day hire form 4.00pm through to 8.00 am the following morning. This is particalary useful over the summer months with day light saving.
But I only need it for an hour or two?
Thats fine. Some items of equipment have a 2 hour hire rate as shown on the website, however for most equipment, the half day is the minimum hire rate.
Do your machines come with petrol or diesel, and do I have to top it up before I bring it back?
All of our equipment is full of fuel and ready to start work immediately. The price of the fuel is itemized as a sperate line item on the hire contract and is charged as an additional cost to the hire rate at the start of the hire. You can either use it all or part thereof. On return you will be given a full or partial refund depending on the amount of fuel used.

I have 2 stroke mix at home, can I use that?
No.
We mix our own 2 stroke fuel at a 40:1 ratio, and require that it is used in our machines so that they can work happily for the next person to hire it. We provide you with enough fuel at the start of the hire, and refund to you whatever is brought back.
I would like to hire an item of equipment for Sunday, but you’re not open on Sunday, so how does that work?
We like to provide our customers with options to enable you to complete the job you need to do. You can hire from 4.00pm Saturday afternoon through to 8.00am Monday morning and you will be charged the 1/2 day rate. If the machine has an hour meter this will give you up to 4 hours engine running time. Additional hours are charged on a pro rata basis.

I’m running a bit late, will there be an extra charge?
While we are here to help, the equipment needs to be back so we can service, and clean it in a timely manner for the next customer to hire. In general terms, we allow for a 45-minute grace period before charging the daily rate. We understand the congestion with traffic on the coast and the rural nature of our customer base. Please feel free to discuss this at at your time of booking. Because our day hire rate is 24 hours, items returned after the 24 hour period will be charged on a pro rata rate basis there after.
